At CityLights Church, our vision is to glorify God by being a gospel centered church that makes disciple makers.

Our mission then is to make disciples who make disciples.

Core values

Give UPWARD

We were created for worship (Isaiah 43:7) and God seeks worshipers (John 4:22-23). All of life is a means in which to worship God (Romans 12:1-2) and we are commanded to give God the glory due to his name (Psalm 29:2) by doing all things for his glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). The privilege of being the church is done through Christ for the praise of his glorious grace toward us (Ephesians 1:6).  We are a people called out of darkness and given new life through the Person and work of Jesus Christ into his marvelous light to proclaim his excellencies (1 Peter 2:9-10). The lives we now live are lived by faith unto Christ, who loved and gave himself for us (Galatians 2:20). The Christian life is meant to be marked by sacrificial dying of ourselves daily to follow Jesus (Luke 9:23-24) who we are to keep our eyes on (Hebrews 12:1-2) in order to become like him (Ephesians 4:1) and walk in a manner worthy of him (Colossians 1:10) to please him by bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of him, beholding his glory(2 Corinthians 3:18), putting to death that which is worldly in us and putting on Christ (Colossians 3:1-15).

By gathering corporately to worship (Psalm 27:4), praying in dependence (Psalm 50:15), singing with gratitude (Colossians 3:16-17), reading and meditating on God’s word (Hebrews 4:12), and trusting and obeying God’s commands (Hebrews 11:6; 1 John 5:2-3), we are able to, by faith,  live the holy lives we are called to live (1 Peter 1:16) and are becoming conformed to the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29) which enables us to see that real living is Christ (Philippians 1:21) and to live lives filled with joy in Him (Psalm 37:4) and satisfied with God (Psalm 90:14).

Grow inward

As members of God’s family, living for him and being rooted and built up in him (Colossians 2:6-7) we commit to grow with each other so that everyone will mature in Christ in community (Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:11-16), which is the context for growth in Christ. This is accomplished by using God’s word to teach, correct, rebuke, exhort, and encourage each other (2 Timothy 4:2), as well as admonishing the idle, encouraging the fainthearted, comforting the weak (1 Thessalonians 5:14), praying for each other (1 Timothy 2:1), and using our various gifts to strengthen the church (Ephesians 4:12; 1 Corinthians 14:12, 26) to maturity in Christ.

GO outward

As ambassadors for Christ charged with the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-20) and as lights in a dark world (Matthew 5:14-16; Ephesians 5:8), we go out to those outside the family of God in order to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ and follow him as disciples (Matthew 28:18-29) and have our God ordained good works shown to the world and be used to give God glory (Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12).
